Multimedia Presentations

A multimedia presentation is a presentation that contains a form of animation or media such as a video, animation, sound, or navigation structure. These types of presentations combine various types of media into one digital presentation. This means that a presentation doesn’t have to have just one type of media. Images, videos, animations, sounds, etc can be combined and used in any way depending on how you want to get your point across. These presentations are used by anyone from students to businessmen and have great impacts.

What makes multimedia presentations so appealing is how user friendly and customization they are. The point of combining the forms of media previously mentioned is to hold your audience’s attention and make the presentation looking interesting. Each media can serve a different purpose within the presentation it is apart of. For example, pictures can be used for everything from simply adding variety to slides, showcasing a brand, or getting a point across. Audio can be used to additional narrations, music, or sound effects to slides to keep the audience invested. Videos of your own or from YouTube or TED Talks to showcase a point.

For the most part, when it comes to multimedia presentations, they can be created with either Adobe Flash or Microsoft PowerPoint. Microsoft PowerPoint is the easiest program to use for a multimedia presentation and edit it. It even includes tools such as image crop, video clip trim, and audio level adjust so that you don’t have to open any other programs. To add various media on PowerPoint is also very easy.

To add images you can either copy an image and then paste it or go to Insert > Pictures menu. To edit pictures, click on Picture Tools > Format. To add an audio track or MP3 from your computer files, click Insert > Audio > Audio on My PC and choose an audio file. To record audio inside PowerPoint itself, click Insert > Audio > Record Audio. To edit your audio you can use the Trim Audio or Start tool. Finally, to add a video from your computer files, go to Insert > Video > Video on My PC. To add a video from online, go to Insert > Video > Online Video and then insert the link to your desired video.
